A lamp in movement. French architect and designer Jean Nouvel designs the “Objective” lamp, a cylinder consisting of several rotating segments placed on top of each other, each of them having its own function. This lamp provides three different lighting options: cosy, direct or indirect light. The segments allow you to choose the one that would suit your activity and to target the light source. The look and modus operandi were inspired by camera objective lenses. The first, transparent methacrylate segment at the bottom is fixed and runs the passive light through an intelligent optical system that spreads gentle light on a work surface. The second one is rotating; thanks to an optical system that turns to 360° on the horizontal axis, you can target the light on different zones of the work surface. The third one (on the top) provides indirect light and is rotating from 0 to 45° on the vertical axis. This lamps perfectly illustrates Jean Nouvel’s philosophy who says, “My design, it is simple things that correspond less to concrete needs but rather concentrate more on the nature of light, on what light is, and what it could be. ”.
I love this lamp for its sleek, contemporary design that seamlessly blends form and function. Its sculptural shape makes it a statement piece, perfect for modern interiors or minimalist spaces. It works particularly well in living rooms or offices where you want a touch of sophistication without cluttering the space. Practical styling tips include placing it on a sideboard or corner table to highlight its geometric form, and pairing it with understated accessories to let the lamp stand out. The LED feature is also a bonus, offering energy efficiency and adjustable lighting options, making it both stylish and practical.
