Finn Juhl, the master of Danish Modern, originally designed the iconic walnut Nyhavn Desk in 1945.Originally designed for his Copenhagen studio at the exclusive address of 33 Nyhavn, this elegant desk went on to shape the style of Finn Juhl's designs during the 1950s. With a sleek veneer walnut table top resting on black steel legs with feet finished in coordinating walnut, the Nyhavn Desk would lend a design edge to any workspace. Finished with three practical drawers in a warm spectrum of colours, the unit is mounted with brackets to further highlight the floating lightness of the desk. The first Danish furniture designer to achieve international recognition, Finn Juhl is seen by many as the master of Danish Modern. A self-taught designer, he originally studied to become an architect but worked with the mindset of a sculptor when creating his designs. Rather than thinking in terms of practicality, Finn Juhl broke free from the constraints of conventional working methods to create truly innovative designs.
