Price History

Description

A stunning display of contrasting colour and texture, the North Cliff sideboard’s defining feature is the contemporary geometric design of its 3 door fronts. Sharp shapes in black, concrete and copper are outlined with brass to match the slim handles, while the wooden sideboard’s frame features a rich, burnt oak finish. Inside, a fixed shelf allows effortless organisation for all of your dinnerware and table accessories – the perfect marriage of fabulous looks and functionality. Oozing glamorous, mid-century modern style, this oak sideboard is certainly a statement piece.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this sideboard for its bold geometric design and mix of finishes, which make it a statement piece that can work well in both contemporary and eclectic interiors. It’s versatile enough to be placed in dining rooms, living spaces or even a sturdy hallway console. When styling, I’d recommend pairing it with sleek accessories or sculptural decor to highlight its modern edge. Practical tip: use it for storing everything from dinnerware to everyday essentials, and consider adding a pair of table lamps or a decorative tray on top for extra visual interest. Its sturdy design and standout aesthetic make it a great addition that adds colour and character without overwhelming the space.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
