Description
Created by the German designer, Sebastian Herkner, the Nobsa rug is made of a collection of several separate parts sewn together in an invisible way. The designer was inspired by recycled plastic bags, in which the Colombian farmers would carry their potatoes. The choice of colours and the technique of weaving in different directions gives the rug a unique look. Each part differs in the weft, the colour and the proportions. This assembly creates a rhythmic and dynamic composition with unstructured contours. This translates into shadow effects as though two rugs had been superimposed. Some colour blocks seem to almost rise above others, creating a three-dimensional impression. This pure virgin wool rug is hand woven in a small family business, located in the Colombian town of Nobsa. It provides an exceptional quality coming from ancestral methods. The Nudo rug is a part of the Sala project, born out of a journey to Colombia that the designer Sebastian Herkner took. Concerned with bringing originality and authenticity to his creations, he met local craftspeople who were able to preserve and pass on a real expertise and traditional production methods over centuries.
