Description

The simple, utilitarian design of our Ukari dining chairs is given a luxurious finish with the tactile and durable qualities of leather. The padded leather seat and back have a modest but interesting stitching detail that adds a finishing touch. | nkuku Ukari Leather Dining Chair | Seating | Aged Tan | 78 x 46 x 52 cm

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Ukari chair for its warm cognac-toned leather and slender black metal frame - it adds just the right amount of industrial edge without feeling bulky. It works particularly well in modern-industrial, Scandi-inspired or warm-minimalist schemes. For styling, pair it with a natural oak or reclaimed wood table and layer a simple wool seat pad or a small sheepskin throw for extra comfort and texture. Keep surrounding tones neutral - think soft greys, off-whites and muted greens - to let the chair’s rich leather really stand out.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
