Description

We've added this beautifully simple sideboard into our Takua range to extend the options for living with this functional, industrial design in your home. With one single shelf and large panes of glass, it is perfect for displaying favourite crockery and tableware. Ideal for kitchen storage or in any living space that needs a beautiful storage solution, we love it for its effortless contemporary style.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Takua sideboard for its clean iron lines and smoked-glass doors - it brings a subtle industrial edge that works equally well in Scandi-inspired or loft-style homes. The dark grey finish pairs beautifully with warm woods and natural fibres, lending itself to both pared-back minimalist schemes and more layered, cosy living rooms. Styling tip: top it with a sculptural lamp and low, organic-shaped vases to balance height. Add a slim runner or tray for texture, then hang a mirror or simple art above to lift the eye. Inside, group your glassware and ceramics by colour or shape, leaving a couple of standout pieces (think brass candlesticks or a statement bowl) to break up the display.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
