The Shimla square sea grass and palm leaf baskets come in an appealing tapered shape. The soft grey tones of the sea grass are lifted by the blond hues of the natural palm leaf, showcasing this attractive woven pattern. Baskets are ideal for all sorts of storage from shoes and sports stuff in a hallway, through to linens and cutlery, or bathroom bits. The list is endless. Natural materials play an important role in our collections, as do the handmade methods in which our products are made. These Shimla baskets are handcrafted in Vietnam using traditional basket weaving techniques.

The Story of Nkuku
Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.
The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.
Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.
Values and Ethical Commitment
Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.
