Description

Our Shanaya chandelier is a real showstopper. Its three-tiered statement design made from antique bronzed metal with panels of mercury-finished glass not only looks beautiful unlit, but will diffuse a warm glow in your chosen location. Perfect as an arresting hallway chandelier or as a centrepiece in a living room or dining room. Each tier sits beautifully within the other for a cascading effect of shimmering aged glass that we've hung from a simple link chain with an understated dark flex to match.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this chandelier because of its vintage-inspired, antique bronze finish combined with the mottled glass, which adds a touch of rustic charm. It works particularly well in a mix of traditional or industrial interiors, but can also bring warmth and character to more contemporary spaces with neutral palettes. Practical styling tips include hanging it in a dining room or over a kitchen island for focal lighting, and pairing it with exposed filament bulbs for a more authentic feel. Keep space around it clear to let its unique design shine, and consider dimmable bulbs to control lighting levels for different moods. It's a versatile piece that can elevate the overall aesthetic and add a sense of curated sophistication.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
