Description

The simple yet sophisticated Samaira counter stool is upholstered in handmade dark brown buffalo leather with an ergonomic, curved seat and footrest for added comfort. The seat is finished with two simple symmetrical stitches, horizontally and vertically, while the simple frame is made from solid iron, bringing you a robust piece that will stand the test of time. The buffalo leather upholstery is a by-product and is dyed using vegetable extract and tree bark which means the leather colour will enrich further with time.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Samaira leather counter stool because its slim, dark-brown leather seat and powder-coated metal legs feel both robust and streamlined. It works especially well in contemporary and industrial-inspired kitchens, or against pale timber islands in Scandi schemes, where the warm leather adds contrast without bulk. For a pulled-together look, pair with brass-tone accessories or simple pendant lighting, and use a neutral linen cushion to soften the seat. Practically, the leather is easy to wipe clean and the metal frame tucks neatly under most counters, keeping your prep area clutter-free.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
