Description

Our Small Rustic pillar candle has a textured finish for a relaxed take on a classic shape and a rich cherry tone in keeping with our seasonal colour palette. These were created specifically for our candle holders which are designed to hold a larger candle. They look beautiful on a sideboard or mantelpiece, in a living room or hallway or as the centrepiece of a table setting for a warm and welcoming scene.

Our Stylist Says

I really like the nkuku candle because of its rustic appeal and rich dark cherry colour, which adds warmth and character to a range of interiors. It works particularly well in cosy, earthy spaces such as rustic kitchens, boho living rooms, or even Scandi-inspired schemes where natural textures are key. Stylistically, it’s best placed on a wooden side table, open shelf, or mantelpiece to create an inviting glow. Practical tips include pairing it with other neutral or textured accessories to balance its colour, and using a candle snuffer to prolong its burn time for a more sustainable use. Its simple, understated design means it’s versatile enough to work in both modern and more traditional interiors.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
