Description

Our stunning Rhya wall light is made from sandcast aluminium – a technique that creates an organic and uneven surface, and is then finished in antique brass. This unique and elegant design showcases our dedication to craftsmanship and time-honoured skills being applied in new ways. The textured metal shade is complemented by a clear hammered glass dome that not only protects the lamp from the elements, but emits a beautifully diffused light as it does so.

Our Stylist Says

I really like the nkuku Rhya outdoor wall lamp for its vintage charm and versatile finish. Its antique brass tone adds traditional warmth that works beautifully in rustic, industrial, or even contemporary exteriors. It’s well-suited for brick or textured facades, making it a great feature for patios, entrances, or garden walls. When styling, consider keeping other outdoor elements minimal to let the lamp be a focal point, and pair it with warm-toned bulbs to enhance its inviting glow. Practical tips include positioning it at eye-level around doorways or along pathways for both aesthetic appeal and functional illumination, ensuring it's rated for outdoor use to withstand the elements.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
