Description

The Pisang lampshade combines organic texture with versatile form. Woven from plaited jute, its tactile surface and warm, earthy tone create a calming presence in any interior. Designed to complement both modern and rustic spaces, this jute lampshade can be placed on a floor or table lamp base, or suspended as a pendant for ambient overhead lighting. The inner ecru liner gently diffuses light, casting a soft, natural glow.

Our Stylist Says

The nkuku Pisang natural lampshade is a lovely addition that brings a warm, organic feel to any space. I love how its natural, earthy tones lend themselves well to interiors with a boho, coastal, or rustic vibe, but it can also add a touch of texture and softness to more modern or minimalist schemes. This shade works particularly well in living rooms or bedrooms where a cosy, inviting atmosphere is desired. When styling, consider pairing it with wooden or wicker lamps bases to enhance its natural appeal, and keep surrounding decor minimal to let the texture and colour of the shade really stand out. It’s versatile enough to sit on side tables or larger floor lamps, making it a flexible choice for various lighting needs.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
