Description

The traditional methods used to create our Payag vase are evident in its organic form and the variety of delicate air bubbles scattered throughout the glass, giving it a distinctive look and feel. Its beautifully curved shape is created by mouth blowing the glass, a time honoured and low impact technique that is steeped in tradition. We’ve used recycled glass which makes this vase as sustainable as it is stylish. The simple design means this vase suits almost any interior, bringing a sense of understated elegance to a sideboard or occasional table.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Nkuku small recycled glass vase for its simple, eco-friendly design that complements a variety of interiors. Its clear glass finish makes it incredibly versatile, ideal for minimalist, Scandinavian, or rustic schemes. You can style it by filling it with fresh or dried flowers, or even leaves and branches for a touch of natural texture. Its small size makes it perfect for tabletops, shelves, or sideboards where a subtle decorative piece is needed. For a polished look, try grouping a few with varying heights or mixing with other glassware to create visual interest without overwhelming the space.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
