Description

We’ve created the generously sized off-white Otas Ottoman, which makes a gorgeous standalone piece or can also be paired with our sumptuous. A handsome focal point in any living space, its decadent boucle style is eye-catching yet its neutral palette allows it to fit seamlessly into any design scheme. Made with beautiful cotton yarn, it has an irresistibly soft tactility that makes it a fabulous additional seating option as well as an irresistible footrest. This classically-shaped yet contemporary-looking piece has a solid mango wood base with carved feet that bring an extra touch of considered detail to this unique design.

Our Stylist Says

I love this ottoman for its versatility and understated style. The off-white shade and soft, textured fabric make it a great addition to neutral or cosy interiors, from Scandi-inspired schemes to boho-luxe settings. It works perfectly as a footrest, extra seating, or even a statement piece when used to display a tray or decorative object. For styling tips, consider pairing it with a textured sofa or layered with throws and cushions for a layered look. Its compact size also makes it ideal for smaller living rooms or bedroom corners, adding practicality without overpowering the space.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
