Description

Simple, understated and elegant, with a nod to traditional Eastern-style lanterns, the Nivas will look striking next to a doorway or fireplace to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. An aged look with a modern nkuku twist, the antique brass finish pairs well with the rest of our nkuku collections of home accessories and furnishings. The handle makes for easy manoeuvring. Pair with our rustic soy blend. Available in two sizes.

Our Stylist Says

I love this lantern for its antique brass finish and versatile, vintage appeal. It works well in both modern and traditional interiors, adding a warm, inviting glow without overpowering a space. Styling tip: placing a couple on a hallway console or side table creates an instant cosy vibe, especially when grouped with textured ceramics or natural materials. For practical use, opt for flameless LED candles inside to avoid heat issues, and consider layering with other metallic accents for a curated look. Its small size makes it ideal for added detail without cluttering, perfect for those finishing touches in a living room or outdoor patio.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
