Description

The simplicity of this Nayan leather and jute dining chair allows the craft skills and natural materials to shine through. The mango wood frame is beautifully turned and hand-carved, creating an elegant base for the generously proportioned buffalo leather seat in aged tan. With a subtle lacquered finish, it has been designed to age well over time, gaining a patina that becomes even more beautiful as it ages. Padded and comfortable, the seat is finished with antique brass rivets for added detail, while the understated back support is made from woven jute, creating a chair that sits just as happily at a dining table as it does at a desk or even in a hallway.

Our Stylist Says

I’m really taken with the Nayan chair’s clean lines and natural finish - the woven back and mango-wood seat bring just the right amount of texture without overwhelming a space. It works equally well in Scandi-inspired kitchens, relaxed coastal dining rooms or a pared-back farmhouse setting. For styling, tuck it under a simple oak or reclaimed table and add soft linen cushions in muted tones to enhance its laid-back vibe. You can mix in a couple of metal or darker-stained chairs at the ends to create visual interest, then finish with a jute rug and subtle greenery to keep the look warm and inviting.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
