Description

Warm acacia wood is paired with natural cane to create an elegant sofa, which is as sustainable as it is sublime. The robust wooden frame is enhanced by an intricately woven cane backing, adding beautiful detail and character. A soft linen seat pad ensures this sofa is both comfortable and stylish. The neutral colour palette created by these environmentally friendly materials means the sofa suits almost any interior, but it looks particularly stylish in a kitchen or conservatory.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a big fan of the Nalrina sofa for its light, natural finish and airy cane back - it instantly lifts a garden corner without feeling too heavy. It works equally well in a relaxed coastal scheme or a modern Scandi-style patio, thanks to its clean lines and warm acacia timber. Keep the look fresh by layering in weather-resistant cushions in soft neutrals or muted terracotta, then add a low jute rug underfoot and a few potted grasses or trailing ivies to soften the edges. A slim side table in rattan or brushed metal finishes it off, giving you both style and practicality for al fresco coffee breaks.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
