Description

With its slimline brass frame and generous glass panels, our Nakura desk is both elegant and practical. Well-designed and robust, it makes a stylish addition to your study or bedroom. The brass adds warmth while the expanse of glass brings a contemporary feel. Its large surface area comfortably fits a laptop and other accessories. Two compartments make it easy to store your belongings while keeping the top of the desk clear. Style with a brass desk chair for a sophisticated aesthetic | nkuku Nakuru Iron & Glass Desk | Tables | Brass

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Nakuru desk for its pared-back silhouette and mix of brass-tone metal with clear glass - it feels both light and robust. It works particularly well in contemporary, Scandi or softly industrial interiors, and because of its slim profile it’s ideal for tight corners or home-office alcoves. To style it, keep the surface clutter-free: a neat tray for stationery, a slender desk lamp and one or two well-chosen books. A small potted plant or sculptural ornament brings life without overwhelming the glass top, while a low-pile rug underneath will help ground the space and soften the metal lines.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
