Description

The beauty of the Mengwi round bar stool is in its understated design. Its attractive dark brown tones lend themselves to a variety of kitchen schemes. The natural grain of the mango wood comes together with the stool's simple turned legs and smooth round seat top to create a truly versatile piece of furniture.

Our Stylist Says

The Nkuku Mengwi stool hits the mark for anyone after a versatile, natural-looking piece that adds warmth to a space. I love its rich dark brown mango wood, which pairs beautifully with both contemporary and rustic interiors-think industrial kitchens or Scandinavian-inspired spaces. It works well as a standalone statement or grouped in a set for levelling up a breakfast bar or counter. For practical styling, consider layering with textured cushions or throws to soften its solid wood feel, and pairing with other natural materials like stone or metal for an elevated look. Its understated design makes it adaptable across various interior styles, while its sturdy build ensures it’s not just stylish but functional too.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
