Our upholstery fabrics are sourced from Italy’s finest mills and are chosen for their style and quality. We have selected a beautiful heavyweight, soft washed linen with an outstanding texture. Our linen is perfectly suited to upholstery, with an appealing natural, and tactile feel. It is also heavy and durable. The linen is FR treated for domestic upholstery ensuring peace of mind as well as meeting specialist UK furniture requirements. Please note, our white background cut-out photography is shown in Natural for shape and style reference. Our Stylist Says

This Nkuku Marri footstool is a versatile piece perfect for adding a touch of understated elegance to both contemporary and rustic interiors. I love how its size and shape make it ideal as a practical extra seating option or a stylish footrest placed alongside a sofa or armchair. The make-to-order aspect allows for customisation, so you can tailor it to your space. Its Brera Linen Pebble fabric offers a subtle, textured look that pairs well with neutral palettes, natural woods, or soft pastels. To style it effectively, consider using it as a nearby piece to a reading nook or as a cosy addition at the end of a bed for extra comfort. It also works well layered with patterned rugs and throw cushions for a relaxed, lived-in feel.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
