Description

Our Marjori standing shelves are both practical and stylish. Warm iron and rich mango wood combine to create an eye-catching aesthetic which brings a sense of pared back sophistication to your home. We choose mango wood thanks to its sustainability - the mango trees are only cut down once they’ve stopped bearing fruit and their short growing cycle means farmers can plant more, providing them with a supplementary income. These shelves are perfect for larger spaces thanks to their wide design.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of this mango wood and iron shelving unit because the warm, reclaimed timber shelves and slim metal frame combine durability with a light, open feel. It’s equally at home in industrial, Scandi-inspired or rustic interiors - perfect for living rooms, hallways or home offices where you want storage without bulk. Style tips: mix baskets on the lower shelves for concealed storage, then layer books, small plants and ceramic pieces on the mid-levels. Keep larger items on the bottom and vary heights to avoid visual monotony. Finish with a couple of framed prints or a textured throw nearby for added character.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
