Description

Classic and sophisticated, our Manua table lamp is handcrafted in India from mango wood, using traditional woodturning methods. Its elegant curves and warm dark palette give it a timeless quality which looks particularly stylish on a sideboard or console table. The lamp is finished with metal fittings in rich shades of antique brass, completing the luxurious look and feel. Mango wood is a sustainable material which is only harvested when the trees have stopped bearing fruit. Pair with our Dia jute lamp shade for a striking aesthetic.

Our Stylist Says

I love this piece because of its versatile dark wood finish and substantial size, making it a statement lamp in many interiors. It works particularly well in cosy living rooms, rustic schemes, or even in a bedroom as a bedside light, where its warm tones add depth and richness. Practical styling tips include pairing it with textured fabrics and natural materials to enhance its organic feel, and placing it on a side table or console where its size can be appreciated. Its neutral palette ensures it complements both contemporary and traditional spaces, adding a grounded, sophisticated touch without overwhelming the decor.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
