Description

Strikingly imprinted using traditional tools, our Mahika vases have an eye-catching pattern and soft, organic shape. Perfect for dressing a sideboard or adding interest to shelving. The matt black finish provides a contrasting backdrop for dried flowers and fresh blooms.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Nkuku Mahika vase for its understated sophistication and versatile appeal. Its black finish makes it a great statement piece that works well in both modern and rustic interiors, adding a touch of elegance without overpowering the space. The large size makes it ideal for grouping with smaller vases or as a standalone focal point on a sideboard or mantel. For styling, I recommend filling it with tall dried grasses or minimalist greenery to enhance its sculptural quality, or leaving it empty for a bold decorative accent. Its texture and colour give it longevity across various decor schemes, making it a practical choice for adding depth and character to an interior.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
