Our Stylist Says
I love the Nkuku Mahi wall shelf for its sleek brass finish and durable iron construction, which makes it both stylish and practical. It's a versatile piece that works well in contemporary, industrial, or even vintage-inspired interiors. When styling, consider using it to display a mix of curated decorative objects, such as ceramics, vintage jars, or small plants, to create an eye-catching yet organised focal point. Practical tips include combining it with other shelving units for a layered look or balancing its boldness by keeping decor minimal and monochromatic. Its large size makes it ideal for creating impact in kitchens, living rooms, or even bathrooms, adding both function and visual interest.

About Nkuku
The Story of Nkuku
Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.
The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.
Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.
Values and Ethical Commitment
Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.
They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.
Sustainability at Its Heart
Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.
The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
