Description

Our Mahi bench combines form with function. Its rich tanned leather and warm brass frame add a classic, opulent note to your home. The simple design is both versatile and practical, with a lower shelf that’s ideal for storing shoes or larger household items. Well designed and robust, this bench looks particularly stylish in a boot room or hallway. The soft leather has a striking depth of colour which gives the bench a luxurious feel, making this a timeless and sophisticated product. | nkuku Mahi Iron & Leather Bench | Seating | Brass

Our Stylist Says

I’m a big fan of the Mahi bench for its blend of warm leather upholstery and slim brass-effect iron frame - it instantly adds a hint of industrial-rustic charm without feeling heavy. The open aluminium-brass shelf below is perfect for baskets or folded throws, making it as practical in an entrance hall as it is at the end of a dining table. Styling tips: top with one or two slim, textured cushions in natural fibres to soften the seat and introduce subtle pattern. Use woven baskets or neatly stacked magazines on the lower rack to keep the look organised. Pair it with a large metal-framed mirror and a potted plant nearby to balance the metallic tones and inject a touch of greenery.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
