Description

The soft natural tones of our Madrisana bar stool add a touch of pared back sophistication. The seat and back are intricately woven from rattan, a time-honoured process which involves a great deal of skill. The frame is crafted from acacia wood and is unpainted so the organic wood grain is on display. The traditional methods used to create this stool give it an appealing handmade quality. Both rattan and acacia are renewable materials which have minimal environmental impact, making this a sustainable choice and one which looks stylish around your kitchen island. | nkuku Madrisana Acacia & Rattan Bar Stool | Seating | Natural

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of these acacia and rattan bar stools for their clean lines, natural tones and sturdy build - perfect if you’re after a relaxed yet refined look. They work beautifully in Scandi, coastal or modern farmhouse kitchens, where the warm wood grain and woven seat add texture without overwhelming the scheme. For practical styling, pop on a simple sheepskin or slim cushion in a muted hue to soften the seat, and pair them with a light-toned island or a marble-topped bar for contrast. They’re easy to move, low-maintenance and always feel effortlessly inviting.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
