Description

These unique pieces are crafted with care from hand-blown recycled rust-coloured glass mixed with slivers of aluminium to create a unique pattern for a subtle warmth that gives an atmospheric glow when a candle is lit inside. The organic shape, with its pinched detailing, is created by an artisan using tongs when the glass is removed from the mould, meaning no two pieces are alike. Available in two sizes.

Our Stylist Says

I love the nkuku candle holder for its earthy, handmade aesthetic; the recycled glass and terracotta bring warmth and texture that work well in both modern and rustic interiors. It's particularly versatile - great for creating a cosy atmosphere in a lounge or bedroom, especially when paired with other natural materials like wood and linen. Practical styling tips include using it as a centrepiece on a dining table or grouping a few with different heights on a sideboard to add visual interest. Its compact size makes it perfect for placing on shelves or windowsills, where it can add a subtle glow without overpowering other decor elements.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
