Description

Versatile and timeless, our Laali coffee table is hand-carved from sustainable mango wood with a beautifully textured grooved surface that accentuates its simplicity and style. This generously proportioned table is effortlessly elegant with a built-in functionality that allows it to be as useful as it is beautiful; two drawers allow for easy storage while the spacious surface is perfect for displaying a cherished object or some favourite books without detracting from the overall silhouette of the piece.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Laali grooved mango wood table for its mix of clean lines and natural texture - the subtle grooves bring a handcrafted feel without overwhelming a space. Its warm, honeyed finish works brilliantly in Scandi-inspired living rooms, relaxed coastal schemes or even a pared-back modern farmhouse setting. For styling, keep the top fairly simple: a neat stack of coffee-table books, a low ceramic vase and perhaps a small decorative tray for remotes. Use the drawers to stash coasters or chargers and balance the look with a woven basket underneath for blankets or magazines. Pair with soft neutrals and tactile cushions to highlight the table’s mellow wood tones.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
