Description

Handmade from water hyacinth, our Kora Storage Baskets have an appealing natural finish. Suitable for all types of storage from laundry and shoes to kindling and log. They have a practical raised handle that also adds to style of the basket.

Our Stylist Says

The Nkuku Kora round basket is a versatile piece that works beautifully in a variety of interiors, from bohemian to Scandi-inspired schemes. I love its natural, woven texture which adds warmth and a handmade feel to any space. It’s particularly practical for storing everything from art supplies to throws, helping to keep clutter discreetly out of sight. When styling, consider using it as a feature piece on open shelving or as a standalone storage solution in the living room or hallway. Pair it with other natural materials like wood and linen for a cohesive look, or let its visual interest shine on its own against contrasting backgrounds. Its large size makes it especially useful for larger items, and it’s just as stylish empty as filled.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
