Description

A practical and stylish addition to any living space, this storage ottoman is upholstered in a soft cotton and linen blend with a subtle stripe. Its generous interior is perfect for stowing away blankets, books, or everyday items, while the cushioned top doubles as a comfortable footrest or extra seat. Finished with elegant wooden legs, it-s a versatile piece that brings both form and function to your home.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this footstool for its versatility and understated charm. The nkuku Kiana ottoman’s neutral hue and soft upholstery make it a great fit for both contemporary and transitional interiors, especially those with a pared-back or natural aesthetic. It works well as extra seating, an everyday footrest, or even a personalised storage piece thanks to its lid. For styling, consider pairing it with textured throws or cushions on your sofa to create an inviting, layered look. It also pairs nicely with light wood or rattan furniture, adding a touch of relaxed elegance without overpowering the space. Practical tip: position it within easy reach of your main seating for maximum functionality, and it can serve as a neat hideaway for blankets and small essentials.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
