Description

Testament to skilled craftsmanship and timeless design, our Katong Textured Wall Art is expertly woven on a traditional Indian using cotton and jute—two of our most cherished natural materials at nkuku. This striking piece showcases a classic design, beautifully framed by sustainable mango wood. Its rich texture adds warmth and an organic feel to your living space, making it a versatile focal point blending artistry with sustainability.

Our Stylist Says

I love the nkuku Katong wall art for its textured, tactile quality that adds depth and interest to any space. Its grey tone makes it versatile, working well in both modern and more neutral, boho interiors. It’s particularly effective in bedrooms or living rooms where you want to create a cosy, layered look. For styling, consider pairing it with natural materials like wood, linen, or woven accessories to highlight its earthy vibe. To maximise its impact, hang it slightly above furniture pieces like a sofa or bed, and ensure the surrounding wall is kept relatively simple to let the artwork stand out as a focal point.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
