Description

The Jaya occasional chair blends sculptural form with traditional craftsmanship. Its distinctive rounded side profile and hand-carved armrests bring character and visual interest, while the warm tones of acacia wood create a sense of natural calm. Linen cushions soften the silhouette and subtly echo the timber's rich grain, making this chair a beautifully considered addition to both living spaces and bedrooms. | nkuku Jaya Acacia Wood & Linen Occasional Dining Chair | Seating | One Size | Natural

Our Stylist Says

I love this piece because of its natural, minimalist aesthetic that effortlessly complements both modern and rustic interiors. The Jaya chair's acacia wood frame and linen upholstery create a warm, inviting vibe that works well in living rooms, reading nooks, or as occasional seating in dining areas. Style-wise, it pairs beautifully with neutral tones and textured fabrics, so layering with throws or cushions enhances its cosy appeal. Practical tips include using it alongside wooden or woven furniture to maintain a cohesive look, while its compact size makes it versatile enough to fit into smaller spaces or as a feature accent in more open-plan settings.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
