Description

Our Jahari Jute Lampshade highlights the beauty of jute, a core material for nkuku. Its natural fibres offer a raw, rustic look, while the rounded shape provides a soft aesthetic. Designed to let light stream through the woven fabric, this lampshade effectively disperses illumination, creating a warm glow and elegant ambience.

Our Stylist Says

The nkuku Jahari woven jute pendant is a fantastic choice for adding texture and natural warmth to a space. I love its versatile, earthy look-perfect for creating a relaxed, boho vibe or enhancing a rustic, Scandinavian-inspired interior. It works particularly well above a neutral bedroom or living room to introduce visual interest without overpowering the existing decor. Practical styling tips include pairing it with other natural materials like rattan or linen, or layering with small plants and woven accessories for a cohesive look. Keep in mind, its soft light and organic shape make it ideal for cosy, inviting atmospheres rather than bright, clinical spaces.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
