Description

This bedside table offers a timeless, understated design with a solid, chunky structure that brings warmth and texture to any bedroom. Its simple form fits seamlessly into both rustic and contemporary spaces, with a spacious surface ideal for stacking books, notepads, or bedtime essentials. A practical and characterful piece that works beautifully beside any bed.

Our Stylist Says

The nkuku Iya is a versatile and timeless bedside table that works particularly well in rustic, boho, or Scandinavian-inspired interiors thanks to its reclaimed wood finish. I love its natural, imperfect texture which adds warmth and character to any space. It’s a compact size, making it suitable for smaller bedrooms or tighter spaces, but it’s still robust enough to hold essentials like a lamp, books, or a glass of water. For styling tips, think about layering with textured textiles or adding dried flowers or minimalist accessories to enhance its organic appeal. It pairs beautifully with both neutral and pastel palettes, and its natural finish makes it easy to integrate into a variety of colour schemes and styles.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
