Description

Inayah takes industrial lighting design and reimagines it for a contemporary living space, creating a clean aesthetic that acts as a focal point to a kitchen or dining space. A striking yet understated piece, the shade is made from , allowing the inner workings of the lamp to be displayed and showcasing the beautifully made antique brass details within, as well as the woven flex and chain that supports the light – altogether making an impact through these considered design details.

Our Stylist Says

I love the nkuku Inayah recycled glass pendant for its simple yet versatile design, which makes it a great choice for a variety of interiors. Its clear glass shade adds a touch of modern minimalism and works particularly well in Scandinavian or contemporary spaces, but it can also complement rustic or industrial styles when styled thoughtfully. Practical tips include pairing it with warm filament bulbs for a cosy glow, and hanging it over dining tables or kitchen islands to create a focal point. Because of its transparent design, it helps to keep the space feeling open and airy, making it ideal for rooms where you want to maintain a light, uncluttered aesthetic.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
