Industrial iron forms the basis of our striking Ekete bistro table. Designed to seat four adults, this practical piece has a characterful distressed tabletop. The table folds neatly away for tidy storage. | nkuku Ekete Iron Bistro Table | Garden | Distressed Black | Brown / Large

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of this iron bistro table for its clean, unfussy lines and robust, weather-resistant finish. It slots neatly into a variety of schemes - from a relaxed country courtyard to a pared-back industrial terrace - and its compact footprint makes it ideal for both small patios and snug kitchen nooks. For styling, team it with simple folding chairs in muted tones and layer in terracotta or ceramic pots of herbs for a lived-in look. A woven runner or natural-fibre placemats add texture, while lanterns or low candles provide a cosy evening glow. If you move it indoors, use it as a small breakfast table against a window, dressed with vintage crockery and a small jug of flowers.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
