Description

Our Dunai Terracotta Planter takes inspiration from the rich, earthy tones that are central to nkuku's ethos, bringing a sense of natural warmth and timeless style to your home or garden. Its versatile design makes it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, featuring a convenient stopper for indoor settings. Each planter is finished with a beautiful reactive glaze, a process which takes place in a kiln and results in variations of colour and texture that make each planter characterful and unique. Available in three sizes.

Our Stylist Says

I really like the Dunai terracotta pot for its rustic, natural look that adds warmth and texture to a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in boho, Mediterranean, or earthy-inspired schemes, but can also bring a touch of warmth to modern spaces when paired with sleek furniture. Practical styling tips include grouping different sizes together for visual interest, placing on textured bases like woven mats or brick floors, and pairing with trailing or leafy plants for a lush effect. The medium size offers versatility, making it great for window sills, side tables, or outdoor patios, adding charm without overwhelming the space.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
