Description

The textured finish of our Dia jute lampshades has a tactile quality that adds warmth to an interior. The natural fibres of the shade act as a subtle filter of light, creating an ambient feel. Suitable for both pendants, floor lamps and table lamps.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Nkuku Dia Jute Lampshade for its natural, earthy texture that adds warmth and a subtle organic feel to a space. It works particularly well in boho, coastal, or Scandinavian interiors where its neutral cream colour and simple shape complement layered natural materials like wood, rattan, and linen. Practical styling tips include pairing it with vintage or rustic furniture to maximise its laid-back charm or using multiple in a coordinated scheme for a cohesive look. Its medium size makes it versatile for table lamps or pendant lighting, making it a flexible choice for creating inviting, softly lit spaces.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
