Description

The Dasai mango wood storage unit is an extremely versatile piece of furniture. It works equally well in a kitchen, holding crockery and glassware, or as a backdrop for books and home décor in a living room or home office. The unit has been crafted from sustainable mango wood that has been sandblasted to enhance its natural patina and achieve a rich textured finish. The Dasai storage unit features two practical cupboard doors that open to reveal a single wooden shelf. Two drawers sit above this, as well as three open shelves that offer practical areas for display and storage. The unit features hand forged, rolled iron handles that mirror its sleek iron frame.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a big fan of the Dasai mango wood storage unit for its honest materials and clean lines - the warm, slightly distressed wood paired with a slim metal frame fits equally well in industrial-leaning lofts or relaxed Scandi homes. It works in living rooms for displaying books, vases and small plants, or in a hallway as a catch-all for keys and baskets. To style it, keep heavier items and concealed baskets on the bottom shelf, then layer in objects of varying heights (candles, photo frames, ceramics) at eye level. On top, a trailing plant or sculptural lamp will balance the open framing without overcrowding.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
