The mango tree is a sustainable crop with a relatively fast growing cycle and they are only harvested once they have stopped bearing fruit. The pieces of wood showcase the individual natural tones of mango wood, creating an interesting natural patina. The cone shape of our Chameli floor lamp feels modern and fresh; the shape complements our dia lampshades perfectly. A floor lamp is a great way to light a dark corner, or book mark the end of a sofa. The Story of Nkuku
Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.
The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.
Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.
Values and Ethical Commitment
Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.
