Description

The Chakai pendant light showcases two of our favourite materials: brass and wood. The warm tones of the brass cage pair beautifully with the natural grain of the sustainable mango wood shade. The elegant Chakai pendant looks perfect positioned over a dining table or kitchen island and makes a striking feature in a living room. | nkuku Chakai Wood & Metal Pendant | Lights | Natural | Small

Our Stylist Says

I love this small Nkuku ceiling light for its natural, rustic appeal - it adds warmth and texture to any space. Its blend of wood and metal makes it quite versatile, working well in both modern and traditional interiors. It's ideal for creating a cosy atmosphere over kitchen islands, dining tables, or in areas where a touch of organic, handcrafted charm is desired. Practical styling tips include pairing it with other natural materials like rattan or linen, and keeping the colour palette neutral around it to highlight its earthy tones. For added impact, consider hanging multiple units in a row or layering with complementary lighting to enhance the overall ambiance.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
