Description

We've introduced an elegant wall lamp to our popular Chakai lighting collection: a beautiful addition for extra versatility within the range, allowing for wall lighting that brings gentle pools of light to a room. It showcases two of our favourite materials: antique brass and sustainable mango wood, with the warm tones of the brass cage and swan neck fitting pairing beautifully with the natural grain of the wooden shade. This lamp makes a wonderful reading light, positioned over a sofa, armchair or bed.

Our Stylist Says

I love this wall lamp because of its combination of mango wood and antique brass, which creates a warm, timeless appeal. It works particularly well in interiors that blend rustic and industrial styles, such as a cosy living room, hallway, or even a bedroom with natural textures. For styling tips, consider pairing it with other wooden or brass accents to create a cohesive look. It also looks great when combined with minimalist décor, allowing it to stand out without overwhelming the space. Its subtle yet striking design makes it both functional and decorative, perfect for adding ambient lighting in various settings.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
