Description

Our Bengaluru pouf is a striking addition to any living space, large or small, bringing tactile warmth and texture to your interiors. The natural material is hand woven using traditional looms, and each panel hand-stitched together, while the soft black chevron patterning is printed onto the fabric using hand-carved wood blocks. Jute is one of our favourite natural materials at Nkuku; we love it for being completely biodegradable and recyclable, incredibly efficient to grow, and beautifully hardwearing with a soft finish.

Our Stylist Says

The Nkuku Bengaluru Jute Pouf is a great addition for adding texture and natural warmth to a variety of interiors. I love how its earthy jute finish pairs beautifully with both contemporary and rustic styles, making it a versatile piece for living rooms, bedrooms, or cosy reading nooks. It works particularly well when styled alongside soft textiles, woven baskets, or layered with natural fibres to enhance a laid-back, eco-conscious vibe. Practical tips include using it as extra seating for guests or as a footrest to complement a statement sofa. Its neutral tones and tactile surface also make it easy to incorporate into a colour scheme, whether that's a neutral palette or something more vibrant, helping to create a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
