Description

The striking yet delicate wicker work on our Banso lampshades performs beautifully; the natural, tactile wicker subtly diffuses the light creating an ambient mood. Style with one of our lamp bases or use as a pendant light for a calming, natural aesthetic. Please note lighting does not include bulbs. All lighting meets with CE (Conformity Europe) approval. Note that this is lampshade only, does not include light fittings.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this wicker lampshade because of its natural, textured look that adds warmth and character to a space. It works particularly well in boho, coastal, or Scandi-inspired interiors, where the focus is on earthy tones and relaxed vibes. For practical styling, it pairs beautifully with warm-toned filament bulbs or soft LED lighting to enhance its organic feel. It’s versatile enough to use over dining tables, in living rooms, or even in bedrooms to create a cosy, inviting atmosphere. When styling, consider pairing it with other natural materials like linen or wood for a cohesive look, and keep other decorative elements simple to let the wicker’s texture shine.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
