Description

The Aranya cotton & jute upholstered storage bench blends practicality with traditional craftsmanship. Upholstered in a handwoven kilim design, this bench brings texture, colour, and character into your living space. Designed to sit comfortably at the foot of a bed or in a hallway, it offers discreet storage without compromising on style. The classic kilim weave gives a nod to heritage Indian textiles, while the soft curved form and thoughtful details ensure it feels at home in both rustic and modern interiors.

Our Stylist Says

I love this bench for its versatile, natural aesthetic and practical design. Its cotton and jute upholstery lends a tactile, organic feel that works well in neutral, earthy interiors, especially in living rooms, entryways, or even at the foot of a bed. It’s perfect for adding extra seating without overwhelming space, and the storage feature provides handy organisation for throws, shoes, or accessories. For styling tips, pair it with textured cushions or a wool throw to enhance its cosy vibe, or place simple decor like a vase or candles on top to create an inviting focal point. It’s particularly well-suited to relaxed, boho, or Scandinavian-inspired interiors, where its natural materials can truly shine.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
