Description

The Aranya occasional chair introduces a new shape to the collection, offering a deep seat and gently curved back for a naturally supportive feel. Upholstered in a traditional kilim weave, the design flows from base to back, ensuring this armchair looks just as striking from behind. A warm and characterful addition to a bedroom, reading nook or relaxed living space.

Our Stylist Says

I love this armchair for its versatile natural appeal and laid-back elegance. The nkuku Aranya chair works beautifully in both boho and coastal interiors, thanks to its mix of cotton and jute that adds texture and warmth. It’s perfect as an occasional piece in a relaxed living room or even in a cosy corner of a bedroom. For styling, consider pairing it with layered textiles like throws or cushions in earthy tones to enhance its natural vibe. Its simplicity also makes it a great backdrop for statement accessories, such as woven baskets or ceramic vases. Keep it minimal but inviting, emphasising its natural materials and relaxed silhouette.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
