Description

The frame of our Amhara bench is crafted from acacia wood, which has a warm natural grain. The woven jute seat follows a traditional Indian pattern and adds a softness to the bench’s aesthetic. This bench would sit well at the foot of the bed or as a place to put on shoes in a hallway. Its natural textures will make it a calming and tactile addition to your home. | nkuku Amhara Acacia & Jute Woven Bench | Seating | Natural

Our Stylist Says

I really like the Amhara bench for its warm acacia frame and tactile jute weave - it brings an unfussy, natural feel that works equally well in Scandi, boho or coastal-inspired spaces. Its slim profile makes it ideal for a hallway, at the end of a bed or alongside a simple dining table where you want flexible seating without bulk. Styling-wise, layer a textured cushion or two in muted tones to soften the seat, and tuck a low basket underneath for scarves or throws. In a dining setup, mix it with chairs in complementary woods and metal for a relaxed, collected look. It also makes a handy perch by a console table - just add a slim cushion and a vase of foliage to complete the vignette.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
