Description

Thoughtfully designed to serve as an elegant centrepiece on your or as a statement piece on a , our Akra vase is the perfect companion to a fresh bouquet. Its understated simplicity allows the natural beauty of the flowers to take centre stage, while the hammered finish and classic silhouette evoke nkuku's signature artisanal style. The blend of timeless design and crafted texture provides a touch of refined elegance to any setting.

Our Stylist Says

I love the nkuku Akra jug because of its versatility and sustainable appeal. Its clear, recycled glass design works well in a variety of interiors, from minimal and contemporary spaces to more rustic or Bohemian settings. It’s particularly effective when styled with simple seasonal blooms or greenery-think sprigs of eucalyptus or wildflowers-to add a touch of natural elegance without clutter. Practical tip: use it as a standalone statement piece or as part of a centred arrangement on a dining or coffee table. The transparency of the glass allows you to showcase coloured or textured stems, making it a great option for adding subtle colour or visual interest to a room.

About Nkuku

Established in 2003, Nkuku offers ethically sourced, handcrafted, and eco-friendly homewares and furniture. Their pieces introduce an element of rustic elegance to your space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Story of Nkuku

Inspired by the artisans they met during a world trip in 2002, Ali and Alex established Nkuku, a brand that celebrates handmade techniques and traditional skills from artisans across the world.

The journey began with a business plan drafted on a beach, with the name "Nkuku" taken from a Zambian village they passed.

Starting in Devon, they initially sold products from their travels at local markets. Eventually, Nkuku transitioned from a wholesale business to a known retail brand, offering a wide range of homewares, from tableware to furniture.

Values and Ethical Commitment

Nkuku is not just about selling products; it's about values. They are committed to an ethical approach, partnering with independent businesses, social projects, and cooperatives. Their focus? Building transparent, strong relationships with suppliers to ensure mutual success.

They're also environmentally conscious, incorporating natural and recycled materials into their products. From golden hemp and reclaimed mango wood to textiles recycled from old t-shirts, Nkuku champions sustainability and eco-friendly production methods.

Sustainability at Its Heart

Every Nkuku product tells a tale, capturing the essence of traditional, handmade craftsmanship. By embracing low-impact production methods, they bring collections that are individually crafted, ensuring each piece is unique.

The brand cherishes the age-old knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. It's not just about home décor for them; it's about keeping a rich heritage alive and celebrating the beauty of handmade uniqueness.
