Description
The Newington sofa bed in navy is a stylish yet functional design, transforming from a sophisticated sofa into a comfortable double bed in seconds. As a sofa its big plump cushions and deep seat guarantee the upmost comfort while its compact size makes it ideal for smaller spaces. Folding out into a bed using a simple 3-fold mechanism, it comfortably sleeps 2 people and comes complete with a sprung 7cm mattress. With a subtle tweed look, it’s upholstered in a wool rich fabric blended with polyamide and acrylic for increased resistance to wear and fading, making it ideal for busy homes. Newington is also available in other fabrics and colours. Getting a sofa into your home can sometimes be a bit of a squeeze, so be sure to read our Sofa Measuring Guide to ensure your dream design is compatible with your space
Our Stylist Says
The navy sofa is a versatile piece that works beautifully in both modern and traditional interiors. I love its classic colour, which adds depth without overpowering the room, making it easy to style around with neutral tones or bold accent colours. The wool upholstery also offers a tactile, cosy feel, perfect for a family lounge or a relaxed sitting area. For styling tips, try pairing it with textured cushions in lighter shades or warm metallic accents for a contemporary edge. Because it's a 3-seater with a sleeper function, it’s both practical and comfortable - a smart choice for spaces that need functionality without compromising on style.

The Birth of Habitat
In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.
The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.
Rapid Expansion & Legacy
Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.
The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.
Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.
Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.
Innovation & Collaboration
Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.
Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
