Designed to be suitably comfortable and durable enough to be used at the dinner table, this contemporary chair reflects craftsmanship, proportion and attention to detail found in Japanese creative industries. Made from solid oak, this piece is perfect for long sociable dining, and features a wrap-around back that acts as an armrest, and leather upholstered seat pad fabricated from mix foam layers. Finished with a clear polyurethane lacquer that highlights the natural grain of the wood. Born in 1966, Kamali is a postgraduate of The Royal College of Art (1989-1991). She studied furniture design and upon graduation worked as a successful freelance designer before setting up Non Specific Creativity, a multi-disciplined design collective. Kamali is currently Creative Director and designer at INK. Please note: not all our ranges are on display in our shops.
I love this chair for its clean, Scandinavian-inspired design and versatile aesthetic. Its natural oak frame offers warmth and texture, making it suitable for both modern and traditional interiors. The black upholstered seat adds a contemporary touch and ensures comfort for longer dinners. For styling, it works well paired with minimalist or mid-century inspired dining tables, and can also be used as an accent piece in a informal lounge setting. To keep the look cohesive, consider pairing it with other natural materials like rattan or linen, and add layered lighting for a welcoming dining experience. Practical tip: its lightweight frame makes it easy to move around, perfect for flexible dining arrangements or multi-use spaces.
